30th Nordic Medical History Congress (in Gothenburg)
The Nordic Congress on the History of Medicine will take place in Gothenburg in April 2027 for its 30th meeting. Main Theme: Water in Health and Disease. More information will follow!
The Nordic Congress on the History of Medicine, first convened in Gothenburg in 1967, will return to Gothenburg in April 2027 for its 30th meeting.
Time: Wednesday April 21 - Friday April 23, 2027
Venue: Wallenberg Conference Center, Gothenburg University
The congress language will be English and participants from all countries are welcome.
The main theme for the meeting will be Water in Health and Disease.
Given the Nordic countries’ long tradition and reliance of travel and communication by waterways, the prominent role of spas and health resorts using water for treatment and wellness (internally or externally, including thermal baths and saunas), and the historic struggles against waterborne disease, we hope this theme will prove inspiring. However, abstracts touching other areas of the history of medicine will also be welcome.
A more detailed announcement, including registration procedure, submission of abstracts and congress fees will be published in early 2026.
